Teaching Methodology
An "over the shoulder" film making experience for professionals or amateurs.
Our method utilises multiple cameras recording simultaneously with a picture in picture edit allowing for the instant understanding of how manipulating different aspects of the camera controls, lighting or talent affects the shot.

Once the rules of pace, performance, continuity, sequencing, stylising and lighting, are known and understood there exists the possibility of breaking or expanding them, but not before. Watching our DVD's is like being "on set' and having your own personal trainer talk you through what he/she is doing and why.
A "catch 22" dilemma faces the aspirant job seeker.
It is a known issue that an applicant for a position in the industry despite a degree from a recognised institution, will still be required to start at the bottom of the heap, and an applicant who has no degree but some practical experience will generally be chosen. For good reason, this is a practical industry requiring practical skills in order that an aesthetic result can be realised. These skills are best imparted by a functioning professional while on the job.
Filmmaking is as much a craft as it is an art, an attitude of perfection must be developed combined with the skill of practical compromise and an overall understanding of the impact on the viewer that the decisions made will have.
A catch 22 situation also faces the independent film maker who has dreams and enthusiasm but often due to lack of exposure to masters of the craft and how they use their "paintbrush" has no chance of producing a product of internationally recognised quality. The entertainment or educational value of a script is inseparable from the choices made in executing the script. Scripting itself is stunted when there is not an in depth understanding of the process of production.
